Welcome To Marist School, Mt Albert
Marist School is a caring and welcoming Catholic primary school. We are a culturally
diverse, Decile 7 school with a roll of approximately 300, serving children from School Entry to Year 6. With our central Auckland
location and easy motorway access, our school attracts students from a wide geographic catchment.
Set amidst well-established
residential areas at the base of Mt. Albert, our school has long been at the heart of Mt Albert’s Catholic and wider community. Our
school is located next door to both Marist College and St. Mary’s Church, with St. Mary’s providing their parish priest for school
liturgical events.
“Well-developed self-review processes mean that the school is on a path of continuous improvement. Teaching
and learning programmes and practices are underpinned by the school’s Catholic character. Marist values are reflected in students’
positive and reciprocal relationships with one another and in their increasing awareness of their social responsibilities.” Marist
ERO Report 2010
Marist’s mission statement, “In the spirit of Mary, we educate, nurture and live Catholic values and guide each child
to reach their potential” describes our school’s ethos and showcases the importance we place on both our children and our faith.
Our
school’s special character is woven into every aspect of school life and the school is guided by its Catholic charism. Our school
nurtures positive values which include: kindness, empathy, generosity, an appreciation of social justice and the importance of contribution
to others. This is reflected in Marist’s strong commitment to pastoral care.
“Teachers are effective classroom practitioners. They have benefited from in-depth, school-wide professional learning and development on teaching writing and numeracy skills. Teachers frequently engage in professional discussion about student progress and achievement and effective teaching practices. They reflect on and evaluate their practices so that they can continue to respond accurately to students’ learning needs. Marist ERO
Report 2010
Marist’s academic climate is fostered by our talented and stable
team of staff who genuinely seek the best possible learning outcomes for their students. Our staff is caring, dedicated, passionate
and they work together in a strong environment of collaboration and mutual respect. There is a real desire among all of the team to
seek personal improvement and pedagogical excellence.
Marist is supported by a cohesive, proactive and engaged Board of Trustees,
comprised of both parent and proprietor representatives.
The Marist Board is dedicated to high standards of governance
and works positively and collaboratively with school management and staff.
Marist enjoys the benefits of a strong and supportive
community. Our parents and caregivers are actively involved in supporting their children and bring strong expectations for school
excellence. We have a large PTFA (Parent, Teacher and Friends Association) who are involved in fundraising, pastoral care and building
a strong sense of community within our school.
While our lovely school may not have the most modern facilities, we are currently
planning for further upgrades of all our classrooms and IT infrastructure. Regardless of our facilities, our heart and character
will continue to define our school.
The school honours the spirit of Mary and is grounded in its Catholic charism.
Marist students are caring and compassionate children as well as motivated learners and these traits form the essence of what makes
Marist a unique, desirable and in-demand school.
