School holidays brought forward
School holidays are being brought forward so that they are completed within the 4 week period. Holidays will now begin from Monday 30 March to Tuesday 14 April inclusive (a reminder that the Tuesday after Easter Monday is always a closed day for schools).
These ‘holiday’ weeks will be an important time for families to settle into routines and a different way of being together without the added pressures of school. We hope that you are able to enjoy some of the fun Pick & Mix activities. The holidays coming at this time will enable our staff to make arrangements with their own families and nurture their own well-being.
When we welcome everyone back to Term 2, the Ministry of Education directed by the Government ,has directed us to be prepared to share with our Marist School Community our new approach to Distance Learning and we are ready!
Therefore please note the following:
- Edmodo Classes will be inactivated for the set holiday period. They will be reactivated Day 1 Term 2 for learning purposes.
Some Sites for Reading for Pleasure:

As noted by the Prime Minister these restrictions are our best chance to slow the virus in New Zealand and to save lives. We all have a clear role here to slow the spread of COVID-19.
NOTE: Parents, caregivers, whānau and teachers will have a particularly important part to play in reassuring children at this time. If you haven’t already done so, you may wish to read the information put together by the Ministry of Education to support your conversations with your children – Talking to children about COVID-19
The Pope has asked that everyone stops and prayers the Our Father at 12 noon this Wednesday 25th March on the Feast of the Annunciation-follow link.
I hope you are all well, focusing on your families, being hopeful and taking care.
Keep in touch, stay safe, kia kaha….please click on this link for the children to hear my message to them….
